Re: Grizzled Skipper
Hi LCPete, Another brilliant place for Grizz in the area is the Swynerton Army Base near Stone. The West Mids butterfly group usually has a visit there in early June. It's not normally open to the public, but John Bryan (johnpbryan15@aol.com) generally organises a visit. Last year, we saw more th a...

Re: Grizzled Skipper
Whereabouts in Staffs are you? Llanymynech Rocks is a good early Grizz site. Follow the track up past the quarries, just before the woods. There is a steep rocky slope on your left where they are usually present. You may also see PBF and Dingy there. Tony M. (Stafford). Many thanks for the informat...

Re: Grizzeled skipper site at calypso wrexham industrial est
Hi maverick :) Developments are always difficult as it will bring work to the area but there must be other suitable sites that are not so valuable for butterflies I ended up going to Eyarth rocks for the Pearl bordered fritillaries they are out at the moment its worth the trip the details are on the...

Re: ID please Butterfly from Valais switzerland
Thanks Pete. That exactly matches my first last year, on 9th April, a little further along the valley. This has been a very funny year. February was bitterly cold and put a hold on the vegetation, suggesting it was going to be a late season. March countered this with wall-to-wall sunshine, making i...

Re: Pixel Binning
Would be great if the camera had the option to do this
My 7D has 18 mp if it could use say 6 or 9 m pixels at high ISO and discard the noisy ones that would be really handy !

Re: Macro lenses - which focal length?
Old thread now but thought I'd add my thoughts I started with the sigma 105 and then bought the 150 I found that I had to use a tripod to get Sharp shots I've probably got shaky hands! Got some nice shots with the 150 and tripod but was missing shots setting up the tripod when Phil showed me what he...

Re: Arnside Knott
I've just noticed (!) that I'm going to be very near Arnside Knott for the first week in August. What are my chances of HBF, NBA or Scotch Argus at that time? Or Large Heath at Meathop Moss or elsewhere? I normally travel up at that time of year for the Scotch Argus and always see them but struggle...

Re: Degeneration of SD cards
Hi... I work in a photographic shop, and we get alot of customers coming in with problems with memory cards, the most important thing to do to your card is "Format it" none of the books tell you to do this, but if you want your card to continue working perfectly, it is vital that you do t...
