The combination of that lens with a D200 and a SB600 flash is hard to beat (unless you can afford a D2x!) and, at least in my opinion, superior to the options offered by other manufacturers at the moment. Malcolm I hate to disagree Malcolm...but the D200 is one of the noisiest cameras on the market...

Bryan H and I went to Aston Rowant on the way home and saw Silver-spotted Skipper...didn't feel too bad about not seeing Brown Hairstreak after that :)

I was there yesterday and was shocked by the sheer nmbers of butterflies.

Small Copper in London

Just had a walk around Horsenden Hill and it would appear that there is a fresh batch of Small Copper out at the moment...7 in Paradise fields and 4 on the hill. While having a pint of cider and a bit of grub at The Ballot Box a Purple Hairstreak landed on the bush next to me, only 4 feet away! Mart...

Lovely photos Mike! :D I couldn't work today so I shot down there at 10am, arriving at 11:15, taking photos by 11:17 :D I have to say, she is a very obliging butterfly, not very skittish at all.
