Is anyone out there using a camcorder?
I am thinking of buying a Sony SR75 60gbhard disk one - not especially for butterflies just a bit of everything really.
Anybody got one?

Hi The bad news is it is notoriously difficult but it is possible. I reckon best to sow in a ssed tray & sow the seed as soon as it is gathered.

You can help the Grasslands Trust win vital funds for conservation work in Wales. A woodland conservation project goes head-to-head with a skate park in the battle for community funds in West Wales. The People's Millions is offering £50,000 to the winning project which must transform the environment...

Re: Arable Reversion any ideas
This IS a very belated reply - sorry! The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Branch of Butterfly Conservation has two areas of ex arable seeded with wild flowers - one in 1997 one in 2004. The latter was a joint scheme with Hampshire County Councul. I would be hapy to host a visit by those local resients...

Re: What do butterfly enthusiasts do during the winter months?
Conservation work conservation work and conservation work! Winter is the time to pay back the butterflies for all the pleasure they give us in the warm sunny part of the year. Many habitats have declined but can be rescued by dedicated volunterers. As a person resonsible for running nature reserves ...

Re: University Challenge
When I am trying to recruit new members to Butterfly Conservation one of the silly stories I use ( as a reason for learning more about butterflies and moths) is the man who lost a lot of money on "Who wants to be a millionaire" years ago because he could not pick Speckled Wood as the odd o...

Re: Inside Out (BBC South)
Hi Denise, It was great fun doing the progamme! So nice to share MHD & the CHBs with everyone. Yes the CHBs were attracted to the dung even when it had been down a couple of weeks so it is well worth trying. The butterfly cake mould was a present from a friend who knows of my fondness for baking...

Annie, I enjoyed the Purple Emperor piece greatly! But its a case of the rest of us "Follow That"" Oh dear! Our MHD Chalkhill Blues were not half so well behaved & you will see from the clothes we were wearing it was a typical 2008 summer's day - blowing a gale after rain. However...

Re: Species attracted to Buddleia
In 2006 I had a White Admiral on buddleia - the first & at the moment the last to visit the garden! It is about a 30 minute walk to nearest wood where WAs can be seen. ( 30 minutes fro me - not a butterfly!)
