Small yellow butterfly ID

Sorry no photo but saw a small, yellow butterfly today. It was the size of a common blue and the colour of a brimstone. Pretty sure it was a butterfly rather than a moth by its flight pattern. This was in a garden in Brighton.

Any ideas ?

Re: Insect ID

Wow !!! I did feel safe around it, i was pretty sure it wasn't a nasty as it was happily feeding on nectar and ignoring anything around it. There was a few wasps nearby happily eyeing up a nest of newly emerged flying ants :D

Insect ID

Sorry it's not a butterfly but saw this brute yesterday. I presume it's not a wasp or Hornet as it's feeding on Budleja.

Any ideas, about 3/4" long

Re: Butterfly or moth ID

Thanks for that Guy, right next to the rudbeckia is a large drift of Monarda or sweet bergamot so maybe that's why her was there. Lovely moth though.

Saw this little critter today, looks a bit moth like sitting on a nice big Rudbeckia. It was only about 1.5-2cm

Any ideas ?

Couple of ID's

Just learning this so please be gentle with me. Is this a large white as i thought LW's had a spot on each wing rather than a band. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h61/andyjevs/andyjevs017/015_zpsd8761c99.jpg This is what i thought to be a large white...or is it just sexual differences http://i61....

Re: Swallowtail in E. Sussex.

Thank you. Didn't quite realise the signifigance of the sighting. Ive now reported it to the Sussex branch of the butterfly conservation society. That aside, the place was also full of large whites, meadow browns, peacocks, red admirals and a few other non identified species....along with quite a fe...
