Re: Must dos for 2012
My new year resolution is to get out farther afield and get to photograph more varied butterfly species to add to the Blues, Skippers, Meadow Brown, Ringlet and Whites I managed this year.

I was even more pleased with a podium finish after planning the shot meticulously ahead of time. I was on holiday for a coup...

Off to the IOW in 2 weeks.. what should I look out for?
I'm off to the Isle of Wight in 2 weeks. What species of butterfly should I look out for particularly?
I'm trying to extend my collection of photos away from Common Blues and Small/Large Skippers
Thanks in advance for your recommendations and help

Re: A Few Butterflies from Kent
A very good set Marc. I particularly like the first image..... very "clean". As for a macro lens, I chose the Canon 100L f2.8 IS USM after much research and opinion gathering on a photography forum. The lens consistently produces excellent results and the IS is particularly useful for hand...

This will help you find good sites for the rarer butterflies in your area (where abouts are you?) Thanks for your guidance and the information Roger, I'll take a look for sites around my location. I stay and work on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border near Bury St Edmunds in the week, but live in Mil...

Magnificent. Do you have any other species in your archive? Thanks David I'm trying like crazy to extend my portfolio but am finding it difficult because of lack of time :( These are taken first thing in the morning before work and hence I can only photograph what's around.
