Hi.
I have here a picture of a small tortoiseshell with 3 white patches on the wing edge instead of the usual one white and two yellow.
Is this an aberration due to the heat wave?

Meadow Brown - extra specks
These Meadow Browns have white specks in the underwing black dots. Hope the specks come through. I have seen others like this in the area in other years.
Is this found elsewhere? Is there a name for this type please?

Aberration?

This photo shows 2 white specks in the black spot, which should mean a Gatekeeper. However the specks on the underwing are not white but black, which usually means
a Meadow Brown. So which do I have here please? There are other similar butterflies in the same field.

Small Tortoiseshell follows Peacock Butterfly
This summer I spotted a Small Tortoiseshell closely following a Peacock Butterfly for several days. Anyone know why it did this?

Re: Sightings, December 2011
Today (22nd Dec) I spotted a Red Admiral flying around a garden outside Rushden Northamptonshire. We have some flowers blooming. Generaly mild. Looks as if we can look forward to seeing more.

Blue with partial black bars
Photographed this Blue on the border of Beds and Northants. It has partial black bars on the white border. Doesn't seem to be an Adonis nor Common Blue. Is it a hybrid, or something else?
