Meadow Brown - extra specks

Post by neil »

These Meadow Browns have white specks in the underwing black dots. Hope the specks come through. I have seen others like this in the area in other years.
Is this found elsewhere? Is there a name for this type please?

I think it's Maniola jurtina ssp. Tippexia: someone's been round my way marking them all too.

I think this is quite normal for Meadow Brown. If you look at the species specific pages on this site they all have white spots.
Cheers Paul
