Where are the Red Admirals?

Post by Deano »

Hello everyone
I wonder how many of you have seen a Red Admiral this year. We have all these lovely Painted Ladies, but I still haven't seen any Red Admirals, even though they can survive our winters these days. I think this is the longest I've ever had to wait for my first sighting of atalanta; usually I see them in May. I hope someone can report that they are here in good numbers, and that I am so far just being unlucky. Looking forward to your response(s).
Best wishes
Deano.

I have seen none on my local dog walking route, I expect I will see more once the Buddlia in the garden flowers.

I've seen a few around this year, mainly a few weeks ago just as the first of the painted ladies started to arrive.

Funny, I was thinking the same. Not seen one so far this year and I've been to a few lovely sites in the last few weeks too...

I saw about a dozen today on a walk near Goring (along the Thames!). All very fresh - so must be just emerging.

Cheers,
