Small Heath?

A somewhat battered individual from Langdale Pikes in the Lake District. Can anyone confirm this is a small heath?

A friend sent me this photo and I am at a loss (in my current drunken haze) to identify it. Help please.

I'd wait another week. I usually go in the last week of June and they're everywhere.

Re: Best Week For Chequered Skipper

I caught the sleeper train from Crewe up to Spean Bridge arriving yesterday morning and despite poor weather in the morning I managed to see 4 just after Cour bridge on the left. There is also a Great spotted woodpecker nest here. I arrived home at 6:30 this morning. 20 hour round trip for 4 Chequer...

Re: Is This Cuckoo Flower ?

I've had 4 plants growing in my garden for 2 years and last year they ended up covered in Orange Tip caterpillars. Well worth having.

I found an orange tip in my dogs food bowl. I suspect it has emerged today somewhere in my garden.

Barcelona

Not knowing much about butterflies outside of the UK I wonder if anyone could tell me which species, if any, are common in the City of Barcelona? I ask because I am due to go there in mid-April to do a study of urban green space and it seems like a good opportunity to broaden my horizons.

Re: I love/hate my camera

Never ever go out without a camera of some sort. Today I was walking the dog along a disused road and stumbled across a pair of Yellowhammers sitting in the hedgerow about 3 metres ahead of me................no camera!!!!!
