Re: For Sale, Wants and Exchanges
Evening all. Since there are several Panasonic FZ Bridge camera enthusiasts on this forum, I was just wondering if any of you good people would have an old Panasonic FZ50, that you do not use anymore? The FZ50 was a good camera in its day, and its a camera that I would like to put to good use, havin...

Re: November 2014
Just the one Peacock seen on the wing today, but I'm sure other species were about? especially with the warm temps here in Kent.
No chance of a photo of the Peacock though, its flight pattern was strong/fast.
Location - Oare Marshes, Kent.
Cheers Paul.

Re: November 2014
Just got back from a long dog walk! Both Large White and Red Admiral seen...failed to take a camera with me though  Plenty of Common Darters still on the wing and perched on various logs, plus just the one Hawker. No sign of any Common Lizards, despite checking numerous log piles. Location - K...

Re: October 2014
You lucky boy, Testudo. I haven't seen a butterfly for at least a fortnight and I'm relying on this weekend being mild and relatively benign for that to change. Cheers David, and thanks...its a long time since anyone has called me a boy! I was born in 1963, Im close to being referred to as an...

Re: October 2014
A word (or 2) of warning, Allan... Paul's steadiness of hand, and whole body control in general, must be pretty damned good. A movement of a few mm., either way, will destroy the point of focus, when using the DCR-250. It's usable down to *very* close - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/ixfe/389955...

Hi Paul(Testudo man), Thanks very much for the information ,i,ll tell you what ,I,d take my hat off (if I was wearing one!) to you, that you managed to get within 6 inches of a clouded yellow ! amazing! but I must say ,I may well invest in one of those lenses, and then ,practice, practice once again...

12th of October, and i took a trip to Oare Marshes Nature Reserve in Kent. I had read on a birding site, that several Clouded Yellows were still active there, so despite the unfavourable weather forecast, i set off in the hope of seeing some October Clouded Yellows! 5th of October(last Sunday) I saw several species on the wing, including- Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Peacock, Comma, Large White, a probable Small Tortoiseshell, and whilst photographing a Small Copper, a fresh male Common Blue flew by. The Small Copper (and I) gave chase after the common blue, but...

Re: White-letter Hairstreaks in my Kent garden!
This one landed less than 15 feet from my kitchen door.. You are truly privileged. Cheers David. Well, looks like i will not be sighting any more garden WLH this season now? Just have to wait until next year, early June 2015! Heres a shot i took back on the 13th June, this would be a typical long d...

Re: August 2014
A wash out today! and a "family day" yesterday, meant no butterfly/wildlife sessions for this weekend! So, last weekend saw me visit both Queensdown Warren and Darland Banks (2 Kent sites). The SSS's were active at Queensdown Warren, on 2 occasions, i saw a male attempt mating, but didnt w...

Re: Questions about LUMIX FZ200
I have several images here, of the same male Chalk hill Blue. But this comparison has a few flaws, the light was forever changing, as in different levels of sunshine/cloud. The Panasonic FZ28 shot has been cropped too. I had to do this because of vignetting caused by also using a Raynox 250 macro le...

Re: Questions about LUMIX FZ200
This is a great thread. I started out using bridge cameras 1st, before i jumped into the Nikon DSLR arena. Ive had a Nikon D5100, D7000...and have just recently bought a mint secondhand D7100...I generally keep a camera for approx a year, then tend to upgrade...but i guess my next step would be a fu...
