Good numbers of scotch argus to be found today 23 july ,loads of grayling and still quite a few high brown frits seen and a single female northern brown argus egglaying [ perfect condition ]
3 southern hawker dragons spotted also!
it was quite cool this morning with thick cloud, they were only flying a few feet before perching up! easy to shoot compared to all the other times i have been in full sun.
this one just crawled on my finger!
the eye spot in full size image is a dirty white colour, not the blueish appearance

they both appear to be hbs, the concave rear edge of front wing as opposed to convex in dg. spotted quite a few hbs at arnside today, the dgs are looking a bit pale in comparison. mostly on the second tier below carpark, although a few on top and 3rd levels. very hot and all flying constantly! grayl...
high browns are now emerging at arnside knott, on monday positvly id atleast 4, but probably a lot more. loads of dark greens this year making id difficult especially in the hot sunshine

NO high brown yet , loads newly emerged dark green and quite a few small pearl bordered, grayling, small heath, northern brown argus and scotch argus.
i use radius 1, and between 30 - 50% maximum, threshold 1, after re sizing to 190 pix inch/ 9 cm height! =1010 pix width
presume you are shooting RAW and sharpen 20% on conversion to jpg
