A single record exists of a male caught on heathland near Ash Value, Surrey on 24th August 1974. This may have been a genuine immigrant, or the result of accidental introduction as an immature stage.
This species was first defined in Denis & Schiffermüller (1775) as shown here (type locality: Vienna, Austria).
