the other path to the West has not been affected.
i did see a couple of White Admirals in the blighted area.
i expect the Emperors will be out by the end of the week

the main path looks like Passchendaele nowJohn W wrote:Hello Charles,
Do I take it that you're not expecting to see many Emperors along the affected (main) path?
I was thinking of going to Fermyn at the end of next week (June 28/9) but maybe I won't bother now![]()
Do the Forestry Commission liaise with Butterfly Conservation at all?

i went to Lady Wood twice in the last week. there is no current disruption there.dilettante wrote:Thanks for the info. Did you go to (I think it's called) Lady Wood, just off the bottom right corner of your image? That's been a good spot for emperors in the past - wondering if it's been managed also?

unfortunately i am busy next weekend; there will be lots of other butterfly fans there i'm sure. i hope you enjoy your visitChris Jackson wrote:I'm worried to hear that there are problems at Fermyn Wood.
In fact I'm coming home to Leicester from 30/06 to 03/07 and was hoping to visit these woods for the first time.
I think I will still pay a visit and see what can be seen, possibly on 01/07.
By the way, if anyone nearby knows the woods well and would like to play the butterfly guide for a foreign tourist (me), I would be grateful.
Cheers,
Chris

Yes. Very easily, Chris. They're not present in the Mercantour so I miss out on them too, although ilia has made the odd appearance to compensate.Chris Jackson wrote:...Can you believe it, it is easier for me to see a Purple Emperor near my home town in England than in France?
