Red Admiral migration

Two interesting postings on our local natural history newsgroup today - one observer in North Herts counted 45 red admirals passing south in a 40 minutes period at noon. Another observer in South Beds counted 50 moving south in two and a half hours. Anyone else noticed any large movements in other parts of the country?

Perhaps if you do see any heading south you could ask the ones with the extra white spots to veer westward a little and pass through North Somerset

I saw one flying about where I work today, he must have been a bit lost

A member of the Harrogate Naturalist's Society reports counting 48 red admirals and 6 small tortoiseshells passing south in the space of 10 minutes today. Perhaps there is a countrywide migration taking place?

Snapped this one today, in surprisingly good nick for the time of year. No white spot though. It wasn't heading anywhere, just nectaring off the daisies.
