Green Moth ID please

Post by CFB »

Could someone please give me the name of this delightful little moth seen this morning at around 170 metres altitude in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Hi Colin,

Assuming they occur in your area try either The Forester (Adscita statices) or Cistus Forester (Adscita geryon).

Hope that helps?

Kind regards. Mark

Thanks Mark. In fact after posting I looked around Google and found these two species. It seems to be difficult to differentiate between the two. But due to the presence of limestone where rock-rose grows, I would tend towards Adscita geryon.
