arrived at Fermyn Woods just before 9am. unable to find camera despite frantic search. there were already half a dozen cars parked at the entrance to Stephen Oak Riding.
An Emperor was sitting on the bonnet of one of the cars !
During the next hour i explored the Riding & saw half a dozen Emperors, some sitting on the path enjoying their usual snacks.
After i drove over to the Gliding Club area. By the time i left there were 28 cars parked there !
There were lots of Emperors on the path leading towards Lady Wood. Also several White Admirals & one or two Silver Washed Fritillaries as well as the usual Ringlets etc.
As i left Fermyn Wood and walked towards Lady Wood i found one Emperor in the hedgerow. In Lady Wood there were plenty of Emperors from the Poplars onwards. I walked as far as the junction where the paths join up. I think i caught a glimpse of Mr Oates but it was fleeting.
Then retraced steps back to car and left just before noon.
A wonderful visit despite lack of camera.
