Silver studds at prees heath

went to prees heath this morning, very windy across the old airfield site!
only saw about 60, it has been too cold for them to emerge properly yet! [ only another 1000 or so to emerge yet :) ]
found a few emerging with ants as late as 11am - 1 pm presumably because it was warming up a little!
virtually all males seen, only a couple of females so far. all in perfect condition!
all shots had to cut a stem and hold in left hand to keep steady, holding approx 2-3 ft off ground to get clean background shooting single handed.

went to whixall moss on way back and saw 2 early large heaths :D

Excellent stuff!

If the weather allows it, I intend to check out both these sites next week.

I spent a good couple of hours today trying to get some shots and got nothing anywhere near as good as those. They are simply beautiful!
