Just nosing in Pete's diary and saw the Grayling shuffle observation, which is the three staged closure of the wings upon settling. I too have noticed this behaviour, and it's the reason they are a right pig to photograph with the eye spots showing. Stage one- got it in the frame. Stage two-focus. Stage three always occurs just before the shutter is about to be pressed..... Where's it gone? Even more maddening is the Wall flick.

I'm going through my photos from Sunday and I was lucky enough to see the Grayling shuffle and plenty of Walls.

Not sure what you mean by the Wall flick Zonda but they are incredibly difficult - for each shot I have with wings open I have about 5 where it has flown just as the shutter goes down. I have more Walls in flight than I do staying still!
