August 2008 Entries
This is the August 2008 competition.
Well, we're going to try out a new mechanism from this month. So PLEASE READ the ***updated*** competition introduction at:
http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/phpBB2/v ... .php?t=991
To be absolutely clear, the new instructions are as follows:
To add your photo:
- Click on the "Photo Gallery" link
- Click the "Upload" tab
- Select the relevant album (e.g. August 2008) in the "Upload to:" field
- Follow the instructions
To view the entries:
- Click on the "Photo Gallery" link
- Click on the relevant album (e,g, August 2008) link that is in the "Photo Competitions" Album
To enter the competition, please post a single image (1 post per member). I've added a test image so that the gallery isn't completely blank! You'll be able to change (delete, followed by add, until this is fixed!) your entry until 5th September.
Please refrain from making comments about the entries until the competition has been voted on. Comments and constructive critique are very welcome thereafter.
Look forward to seeing the entries roll in , good luck !
Cheers,
- Pete

OK, started the ball rolling. But can we change our entries later?

Re: August 2008 Entries
Thanks Mike! Yes you can - but it's not obvious how.eccles wrote:OK, started the ball rolling. But can we change our entries later?
One of the enhancements needed is the ability to edit an image once uploaded. In the meantime, you'll just have to delete the image, and upload another.
To delete an image (there is a bug at the mo, which means that the "Delete image" option is not as prominent as it should be) ... you need to select the "View/Post Comments" link, where the "Delete Image" link can be found under "Options:".
Cheers,
- Pete

Hi Jack,
You have to post your photo in the "Photo Gallery" under August comp.
Click on PG at the top of the page and then you'll see it.
Cheers

Ok, Scroll to the top of this page and after the title bar you will find on the left, User Control panel (0 new messages) View your posts.
Now follow the line to the other side of the page and you should see Blogs, FAQ, Members, Photo Gallery. Log Out
Click on photo gallery and the last subject is Competitions. You will then see sub something or other and August Comp. You have to put your photo in there now.
New System.
Hope this helps

Re: August 2008 Entries
Cracked it but I still don't see what system was changed.
Ah well. I recently changed a page on my weather website for a VERY GOOD REASON and one or two people couldn't understand the logic behind the change So I guess I am now seeing things from the other side.

Hi Dave,
As far as I can work out, you have to find the photo in recent images, and then view comments. At the bottom of the pic there is a delete option in blue writing.
You have to delete the image and start again with a new photo.
Does that make sense?

Direct link for August without all the rigmarole:
http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/phpBB2/g ... album_id=9
I can appreciate now why Pete changed it. Thumbnails make for a much easier comparison.
I might have been having problems earlier because I use Firefox.

Also Jack,
You can click on the first thumbnail to enlarge it, then click on this enlarged image again (and each subsequent image) for a slide show for all the pics on that page.
