Job Posting - Chester Zoo Butterfly Keeper/Horticulturalist

Post by Pete Eeles »

I've just received this from Kevin Buley, Head of Zoo Programmes, Animal & Plant Division, Chester Zoo ... for anyone that might be interested.

KEEPER / HORTICULTURIST FOR NEW BUTTERFLY EXHIBIT

Chester Zoo is one of the leading zoological collections in Europe with an international reputation for achieving its mission in conservation, research and education. We are seeking two Keeper / Horticulturists with a commitment to conservation to work in our exciting new Butterfly House.

The successful candidates will have previous experience in the management and breeding of butterflies and the cultivation of appropriate plants in a controlled environment. We would welcome applications from candidates who have a specialist knowledge in either of these areas but would expect both to be able to carry out all of the activities involved in the running of the exhibit.

Formal horticultural or animal management qualifications would be an advantage but practical experience is of primary importance.

Pay is £6.62 per hour initially, rising to £7.35 per hour after satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

For an application form please ring the recruitment line on 01244 389477 or email c.yari-gerrard@chesterzoo.org

Closing date for applications is Friday 8th February 2008.
