The Nature of Britain on BBC1 at 9pm tonight includes items on red deer, goldcrests, honey buzzards, crossbills and purple emperors.

Thanks for the tip-off, Alex!

Splendid close-ups and fine shots of the PE's gliding flight!

I have been really enjoying this series, inspite of Mr Titchmarshes' slightly patronising manner. Did we all see the wonderful slo-mo of the Humming Bird Hawk in episode 1? Superb.

There is also a companion series hosted by Chris Packham on BBC4 - 7 o'clock on Sunday but I think it is also on later on a Wednesday. Last night they showed Black Hairstreak at Rockingham Forest (didn't kno it was there!), and Northern Brown Argus at Castle Eden Dene among others. Well worth a watch!!
