Good morning UK B'ers,
I fired up my moth trap over the weekend and sited it at the entrance of an open garage which produced the best results so far.
I have named the ones I managed to identify in my moth book and as I know you are a finely tuned collection of Lepidopterists I hoped you might be up for identifying some of the unidentified visitors to the trap:
Now for the anonymoths:
I saw my first painted lady on Sunday, which sounds like it is ahead of the approaching 'muse' of painted ladies.
I thought a muse of painted ladies was an appropriate term!
Flutter on!

Re: Anonymoths ID parade
Hi, I'll pass on the first of your queries as I'm not sure at the moment, I think the others are:
2 Rustic Shoulder-knot
3 Swallow Prominent
4 Heart and Dart
5 Common Swift
6 Poplar Grey

Good morning Nigel,
Thank you for your wisdom!
I hope I can get the full set.
The next time I have more anonymoths I will hope to hear from you!
Flutter on!

Hi, I'm inclined to think the first anonymoth is some sort of Swift moth based on it's general shape and posture. Non are normally that dark so maybe you have a melanistic form of one? just a best guess.
