Something else to focus in on

I got bored today and decided to see what else was out there to focus my camera on. Here are a few shots I got with my canon 400D. Anyone knows what some of these are, that might help

Tiny bug on a holly leaf:

Horsefly Mating (found this a little tricky to focus in on):

The fly is a Scatophagid, probably Scatophaga stercoraria. What a beauty.

The fly there, I took many pics of it and only 3 came out at all. It was tough to focus in on as either the back of it blurred, front blurred or fly on bottom blurred.

Try moving a little further away Dave (more depth of field), and then crop in later. Woodlouse was very good, what's the other critter with it

Thats an idea, I am just learning all this while I have chance. And I don't really know what the other critter beside the woodlouse is.

I can't wait until oil beetle time in this country, they're a proper sign of Spring for me.

when I was watching moorhens and things, I saw many treecreepers around, but the only pic i got was one that made it look like a mouse somehow.

If you reduce the aperture then you will increase the dof. Try for something like f8 - f10. You can afford to reduce your shutter speed to compensate.
