Silly Sightings

Post by PhilBJohnson »

This topic is a bit of fun for those wishing to post pictures of unidentified butterflies (or UFOs) that are highly questionable to say the least.
In the true spirit of "the Loch Ness Monster" or the British press on a slow news day, I thought I would kick this topic off with this picture.
I hope I don't get in trouble for this (it is not my picture) and wish that it is taken in the spirit that is meant,
best wishes,
Philip

Definitely not a Large Copper. Looks much more like a Mazarine Blue.

Speaking of Philae, this photo was taken as it came in to land…

The research scientists found that adding artificial growth hormone to pollen had some unexpected side-effects:

Not a butterfly, but if we're just being silly, how about this Ford Transit sighting from a few years ago?

The trick was to take the pictures while the occupants weren't looking! :D
The attachment 17th May 2014 Wey Navigation ,Send.jpg is no longer available
Blue Admiral, 17th May 2014, Wey Navigation, Send

Butterflies in the Field
Butterflies in the Field
Anyone entering this field with a fishing rod might well get "butterflies in their stomach"!
The much smaller, older & hard to read discrete sign in part says "Visiting Anglers are Welcome" and might well refer to the canal located behind the photographer. (Photo taken on towpath)
That is Send Church in the background.
best wishes,
Philip

Not sightings but a parallel theme inspired by some crosswords where two or more words spoken in sequence sound like something else.

Chore Kill Blew
Gait Key Purr
Would Wight
Add Owe Ness Blew
And a real groaner:
Spare Killed Would

My later addition:
Whorl

Your turn to come up with more.

A very rare visitor to our shores in November is the Margarine Blue.
