Larva and spider ID

Post by David M »

Found this odd, bluish coloured larva on a wooden bench at West Williamston today. I assume it to be a moth larva?

I'd also appreciate an ID on this very robust spider:

The larva is a Grey Dagger moth, I believe.

The spider is Boris  i.e. no idea :)

Cheers,

Very probably, Dave.

I've seen quite a few of these spiders this month. Do they only spin webs in autumn?

I'd say it's the very similar Dark dagger moth and Araneus Quadratus for the spider :)
