Pearl Bordereds at Rewell Wood?

Post by Paulcrook »

I asked this last year but couldn't find them

Does anyone know exactly (or as near as) where the Pearl Bordered's might be at this site in Sussex (and if there are any there yet)? I parked alongside the main road last year but then it all went wrong - I walked for miles and didn't find any.

Any helkp would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi Paul,
I'm afraid you're a bit late now for this year at Rewell, although the PBF season is far less advanced at Bentley Wood (Hants) and Abbotts Wood (East Sussex). There were a couple of well-advertised UKB/BC walks at Rewell earlier in the spring and you will find some access information in my diary at viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4065&start=620 and reports over the next two pages. You can park before the metal gate mentioned (only open for the walks), walk up the track past the sawmill and turn left at the T-junction. After a couple of hundred metres you will come to an open area of coppice on the right. There will still be a few (mostly faded and battered) specimens on the wing.
