'Map' shares the same property, but that doesn't really qualify as British.

This question reminded me of the old trivia chestnut about the unique property of 'St Johns Wood' tube station. It was certainly true in the 1980s, but some of the more recently-built stations may have invalidated it.

No one I've ever asked that question to has ever got it right! I didn't know it was a well known trivial chestnut...

I've got my Waring & Townsend Field Guide to Moths and I'm still stumped on some of them! Mind you, when I do get them I kick myself cos some of them are sooooo simple. Think I'm trying to over think it at times. :P

OK - here was that first bash:

Comma, ringlet, peacock, gatekeeper (one-word names)

Large heath, purple emperor, Adonis blue, common blue (Overwinter as caterpillar)

Wood white, brown hairstreak, green hairstreak, orange tip (Specific name refers to [alleged] host-plant)

Leaving: Clouded yellow, essex skipper, silver-spotted skipper, chalkhill blue.

I got a little despondent when I realised there's at least one Latin name, and some non-UK species.

Graham Wenman, the setter of the above quiz, has asked me to post the following, which was omitted from the preamble on the AES page:

"There are 32 butterflies and 68 moths. Only 11 answers are latin names. 3 of the names "could" be applied to both Butterflies and Moths."

Anyone who's planning on entering the quiz may find it helpful.
