Sussex Moth for ID

Post by Mark Colvin »

Can anyone help with a name for this moth. It was found in my bathroom this morning having come to light overnight? I've checked Moths of the British Isles by Skinner and British Pyralid Moths by Goater and can't come up with a name.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards. Mark

It was found in my bathroom this morning having come to light overnight. I've checked Moths of the British Isles by Skinner and ukmoths.org.uk and think it's a male Common Wave (Cabera exanthemata).

Thanks in advance.

LOL. The way things are going Mark, your bathroom could soon be included as a main site for British moths!

Hi David,

Now there's a thought.

Maybe I could charge an entry fee?

Good hunting.

Thanks Chris,

I'll keep a look out for the Square-spot Rustic. I certainly haven't seen any yet. I've had several Noctuids but they keep flying off when I try to photograph them ... even after a night in the cooler. Maybe I'll get the glue out!

Thanks again.
