Forum Help

Post by Mark Colvin »

I'm a bit new to this so a little help would be appreciated.

When I submit images to the forums (two to date but I’m working on it!) they are loading onto the site as attachments. I notice that other members images appear embedded within the post. Which is the best practice and why? Is there somewhere within the website that gives detail as to best practice and where I can test the various things I can do e.g. embedding a quote?

Thanks for any help. Mark

Hi Mark,

Posting a photo is a two-step process. First select 'upload attachment' fromthe tabs below the 'Subject' box, then use the 'browse' button to find the file on your computer and also add a caption in the 'File Comment' box. The second step is to select where in your post you want it to appear and then click the button marked 'place inline'. That seems to work for me anyway, as shown below!

Hi Mark,

You can also test things here:

viewforum.php?f=15

Accessed from the board index, towards the bottom of the page.

If you have files stored online - for instance, in your own website - you can embed them using the Image

Pictures more than 800px across will be cropped and in general this method is only helpful for relatively small pictures, otherwise pages take ages to load and the pictures are difficult to view.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the comment and yes I am certainly beginning to get the hang of it. That's my favourite image to date. It was taken at about 6.40 am on a lovely sunny morning. The only downside was lying in a field full of long grass which played havoc with my hayfever!

Hope to see you in the field.

Kind regards. Mark
