Tottenhoe

Hello,

Has anyone been to Tottenhoe recently and seen a small blue? Just wondering if they will be around for much longer, or will I have to wait until the second brood in late July.

Also with the very early spring we've had, does anyone think the Duke of Burgundy might have a second brood there?

On a cold windy 24/5 we only saw one SB at Totternhoe but found plenty in the churchyard at Pitstone (no walking!) & I understand there is a reserve nearby with 100's. Eric

A friend of mine visited Tottenhoe at the weekend and saw Small Blue but I'm not sure what numbers were involved. If I remember correctly Small Blue can have quite a prolonged flight period.

Does any one else have this trouble of trying to fit in so much in just the weekends?! I am looking to get into reserve management / conversation so I can be in nature all the time!

A little off the direct topic but the Sussex BC site has a report of a new chalk tip nature reserve at Hollingbury Brighton specially created for Small Blues . A recent visit assessed the numbers at 800 to 1000 undoubtedly the highest in the UK for one site .
