Does anyone know if the High Brown colony at Castlemorton Common in the Malvern Hills is still viable? Has anyone visited in the last couple of seasons? Please PM me if you wish, this information would be of huge interest to me and it's unfortunately a long way for me to travel so I doubt if I shall be able make it up there this year.
I know that historically it was a good site (I last visited in 2001 or 2002 and numbers were pretty good), but then so was Dunsford in Devon (even David Newland's book in 2006 claims good numbers) but now it is near extinction and shall in all likelihood be lost.
This species is on the way out fast, colonies are being lost almost annually and there's little anyone can do...
Anyhoo, thanks in advance if anyone has any recent records from Castlemorton (or anywhere else in the Malverns).
