Nice ones everyone!
I have to say, tho', my favourite was Padfield's Bee-haviour - something really different to the norm and a great opportunist shot!

Re: February 2010 competition Behaviour
Thanks for the comments, Charles and Nick, and for helping nudge me into 3rd! I was lucky to witness that bit of behaviour (of which there is more footage here: http://www.guypadfield.com/movies/commabee092.wmv).
I enjoyed browsing all the pictures. These monthly comps are really a showcase of our best shots, and many of those that get fewer or lower ratings are great pictures.

Nice video - Comma seems untroubled by the bees. Interesting to notice in that short time, the wasp and hover-fly? also homing in on a free lunch!padfield wrote:Thanks for the comments, Charles and Nick, and for helping nudge me into 3rd! Re: February 2010 competition Behaviour
Blimey!, I got second. Don't know how I managed that. Some thanks are due to Nick, because I was originally going to enter some Clouded Yellows, but changed the plan when I saw that his photo was better.
I agree with Guy that many of the entries deserved to get better ratings, but it is diffucult with so many quality images on show. I still make an effort to rate every entry in each competition and cannot see how the system can be improved. At the end of the day we all get to see some great photos, have some fun and hopefully learn a bit more about improving our technique.
Congratulations to all that entered. My personal commendations this month went to Nick's Clouded Yellows, Roger's Brimstone, Rosalyn's Glanvilles, Colin's White and Guy's Comma. My criteria?......................I wish I had taken them.
Thanks to all those that voted for me . I still can't believe I got second.............................
Cheers,
Vince

Re: February 2010 competition Behaviour
Well done with that OT pair - that's one I haven't got.....
As you say we all get to see some fantastic shots
..... most of which are better than the one's we enter, we think!
(Most of the time I am proved right )
Criteria - well I took Behaviour as the key; shagging is quite easy as there is a lot of it about (!) so other things came above that for me.
Then I actually try to look at technical execution and composition (which is the most subjective) and to be fair go through each photo in the comp to rate it.
My take on this is that, if people put them up, they deserve to have them rated.
