Snow pics

Post by Dave McCormick »

Well I was out yesterday at the lake here, and got a few photos. YOu can't tell it is a lake anymore, minus the few areas that are less frozen. Ducks seem to be going nuts having to swin around in a small area of unfrozen lake.

Bear Statue that one of the gardeners here made a long time ago: Poor bear looks frozen!

The lake here in Mountstewart. You can't really tell it is a lake, minus the odd area round the edge that is less frozen and has a little water. Ducks are going nuts as they keep fighting over the little area of non frozen water:

My girlfriend always has a sunny disposition, despite someone once saying she had a big nose :)

Should we be concerned that you happened to have a Hawaiian flower garland and grass skirt to hand in your wardrobe Pete?

I don't, but my girlfriend does :) Actually - this was a creation by some neighbours (said he, trying to wriggle out of answering an awkward question!).

I took this one in the snow we had just before Christmas. I haven't taken any in this latest lot of snow, but it doesn't look to be going away any time soon, more snow on Sunday they say.

And there was me thinking that "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was filmed in the US somewhere, not Somerset :)

Christ that looks cold Guy.

Here's a picture taken at Stone Henge this morning, I thought the snow would make an interesting foreground.

Nice shot Gruditch. I am also taken by Pete's snowperson and Guy's horse. I have only just seen them all because I have been away from Caterham for a few days due to snow-related issues. This gave me a chance to visit my former local site (Broadfield Pond) in Crawley on 7th January and get some photos.

Finally,I have just seen the News which is reporting that the snow is having an effect on the shopping habits of the public. Apart from food, the items that are selling very well are sledges, contraceptives and cat litter. I have no further comment

It's people adapting to the difficult winter conditions. Sledges,, for taking granny to the shops,,, cat litter stops you slipping on the ice, and the shortage of party balloons has resulted in condom sales escalating. :D I think i met Pete's girlfriend on New years eve,,,,, cant remember a thing.
Cheers,,, Zonda.

It was minus 13 when I got up yesterday. I have no heating in my house and the snow had yet again started generating spontaneously inside it! This is my living room window (other side of the house from the kitchen windows):

Saw my first butterfly of 2009 one year ago today, exactly. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Crikey Guy  how do you keep warm?

When do you think you will see this year's first (and was last year's a hibernater or emergee?) given the (presumably) worse weather for you in CH this year?

Cheers
