Book on grasses

Post by Pete Eeles »

I'm looking for a good book on grasses of Britain, and would appreciate any recommendations. Given the various butterfly species that feed on grasses such as Purple Moor-grass, Yorkshire-fog, Tor-grass, Cock's-foot, etc. etc. I could really do with a decent guide.

Help!

Cheers,

- Pete

Hi Pete,

Not a book as such, but my local Environmental Records Centre has produced a key for grasses you can download:

Hope this helps!

Grasses, Ferns, Mosses and Lichens of Great Britain and Ireland (Paperback)
by Roger Phillips, Sheila Grant

I find that this guy did a good fungi book. It's £9.20 on Amazon. So I would the guess the grasses one is good too. I,ve picked up books by him in charity shops too.
