Came across this feature on Wiltshire insects - the last three are rather unexpected.

Wiltshire insects (must be, its the BBC!)
Re: Wiltshire insects (must be, its the BBC!)
Am I looking at what you're looking at Simon?
11 images, the final three being a slow worm, a common frog, and a cluster of snails...?
Felix.

Yeah I wondered that myself, I saw the same things...unless the slow worm, the hawk moth and something else are unexpected?Felix wrote:Am I looking at what you're looking at Simon?

Simon's point is, I believe, that snails, slow worms and frogs are not insects.
Cheers

Suddenly it all falls into place. I'm such a freakin' dunce at times.

Pass it onto me afterward. And if snails are not insects, what are they? Crustatians?Anyway I should have realised that a slow worm or at least the frog was not an insectFelix wrote:Duh.

Allo I'm new here!
Snails are indeed Gastropods, this is their class and along with Cephalopods, Bivalves and 4 other classes make the Phylum Mollusca.
Also the Spider is slightly unusal in that it too isn't an insect (a very common misconception) but is an Arachnid, belonging to the Phylum Chelicerata
Cheers ears
