Durlston

Post by Zonda »

Just got back from Durlston, i'm only an hour away. I was hoping for something, got nothing. I saw all the common browns, a few common blues, and a few Painted ladies. The wind was just a bit too strong for my tastes, and the clouds a nuisance. Call me defeatist, i didn't take one shot. The meadow at the top, near the car park had been cut, although they had left a few Fleabane, and Ragwort around the edges. This meadow was rich in skippers, and blues a fortnight ago. I don't know why they have cut this so early. All the grass is piled in big heaps, so it wasn't for hay, or anything. Aah well it's August, and stuff does get tatty, but i think people are a little too eager to tidy up. I arrived full of hope, bought a fiver all day parking ticket, and gave it away to a family at 12.30. Oh well, happy days. :)
Cheers,,, Zonda.

If you go again, try the grassy banks above and below the main path just before you get to the stone bridge.
