White Admiral(camilla) and lonicera

Post by lois »

Can any one tell me if they have seen the White Admiral s( limenitis camilla) l caterpillars feeding in any part of the Uk or the world on any other form of lonicera apart from the periclymenum(European) and specifically if they have seen it on lonicera japonica.I read somewhere it had been seen on lonicera henryii. Also that it fed on fly honeysuckle(lonicera xylosteum).

Is it quite or extremely decimating to the honeysuckle? I read it decimated populations of honeysuckle in Sweden in the fourties and fifties.Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Has anyone studied or can comment on generally, risk factors for the pupa esp. overwintering?Does your lonicera periclymenum lose its leaves in the winter/Ours does here in NZ.The pupa looks to me as if it poses as a dead leaf?

Can anyone tell me their experience of its preferred habitat/s?

Are there any studies that have been done on levels of parasitism by parasitic wasps on this or any other form of butterfly.
Thanks,LOIS
