Butterfly and Ant Songs

Post by Chris Pickford »

I've been pressed into giving a presentation in a few weeks time about local wildlife in which I wanted to put a few pics of Green Hairstreaks and Adonis Blues, plus close-ups of the ants that they interact with.

Does anyone know of a source for recordings of the "songs" that the larvae and pupae use to "call" ants to them, and to interact with them (I'm sure there'ds a website somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it....)? I want to use the songs as a sound backdrop for part of the presentation (with suitable acknowledgements, of course). I assume that, because of the frequencies and sound levels, recording such songs is a highly specialised business.....
