BBC Film on Butterflies - We need your help

Post by natureman »

Over the next 18 months the BBC Natural History Unit will be making a 60min Natural World entirely devoted to our British butterflies. With the help of Butterfly Conservation we hope that it will not only be a stunning showcase for their behaviour and chance to promote their conservation, but also to reflect on what makes them so special to the British people.

We are looking to those people who are going beyond the call of duty to do something with or for butterflies. Such as people who travel the country looking for rare migrants or those who are passionate about butterflies in art, be-it on the wall or even on their bodies as tattoos!

Or maybe the location of some incredible butterfly artworks, either in museums or on the streets, or perhaps just someone who has gone to extreme lengths to promote butterfly conservation.

We have some ideas of our own but would love to hear yours.

We hope that this programme will not only be a stunning portrayal of butterfly behaviour but also a true reflection of the value and affection British people have for them. So even though we won't have time to follow up the vast majority of stories, just hearing about your ideas and experiences will help us make a better programme.

Thanks and happy butterfly-hunting!
