Hello Pete
I've just been perusing the entries for the 2008 photo competition, and I noticed that entry number 115 looks like a close up of a Red Admiral, but it is listed as a Peacock. What do you reckon to it yourself?
Kind regards
Deano :)

It came with a batch of other Peacock images - so assumed it was also a Peacock! But I think you're right - I'll add an amendment to the top of the page.

Hi Pete,

Are the results of this comp due, or have I got my dates wrong?

Nope - you're right. A combination of me being too busy and the website being down most of today.

I'll try and get the results posted tomorrow.

Congratulations to all the winners and runners up, especially Forum regulars Fishiee, Marcin, Paul Brookes, and Guy, who all got my vote.
In-fact, I managed to dig out the scrap of paper that I jotted down my votes on, wow I was almost spot on.
OA 227 205 90

UK 90 123 124

OS 205 201 204

IM 227 226 224

U16 274

Note I left out behaviour, as I was way out there, but pretty close everywhere else. :D

Congratulations to all. It's nice to see familiar names in the winners, (even if I didn't realize that John Bogle was fishiee)
Excellent photo's and a great comp.

Thanks all. Just got the e-mail from Pete saying I was the winner. Made the trip out in the rain to get the Orange Tip worthwhile :) I am fortunate to have them in good numbers just 5 mins walk from home :)

Here's looking to more great butterflies in 2009. Not long now 'till the nights start drawing out! :)

I really thought I had a chance until I saw the other entries, and the finalists blew me away, but Fishiee, yours is a well deserved winner.

Congrats from me too, there were some awesome entries, and it was very difficult to choose between them.
I also thought the entry Nick B put in was just brilliant.

Congratulations to all for posting some fantastic shots in the comp. John, I hope you can bring some of your stuff along to show at our (BC Sussex) Spring Social in mid March. Thanks to anyone that gave me their vote - the 'immature stages' category might have been small, but it was very nice to finally achieve more than my usual one or two points! :D

Blimey, I won something! I have only just seen the results and am still sitting in shocked surprise. Very many thanks to those who voted for me in the behaviour category. I personally found it very difficult to choose, such was the quality of the entries and also I found myself thinking things like - "how did they manage to do that ? " or "I wish I had been standing next to the person when they took this one". On this point can I ask Neil (Sussex Kipper) where he took his photo of the Purple Emperor ?

Cheers,

Vince.
