Attractive Butterfly looking moth

Post by Devon Dave »

Was looking for Brown Hairstreaks in hedgerows today and spotted this attractive little creature. For a moment I thought it was a new species of tiny Butterfly !! But of course its a very small moth, but very distinctive markings. Manage to get these two pics before it flew off. I have never seen this one before, any of you moth experts out there know what it might be?

Hi Dave. It's a clouded border, Lomaspilis marginata. See https://ukmoths.org.uk/species/lomaspilis-marginata/ for more information.
