Neonicotinoid petition

Post by Roger Gibbons »

This may already be widely known, but I post it here in case it is news for some people.

Politicians ask for our trust. We are happy to give that when it is justified. Until then...

Thanks for the link, Roger. Duly signed and email forwarded to my local MP.

I was surprised to learn of this development given the increase in environmental awareness brought on by the Covid pandemic. Sends out entirely the wrong signal at a time when we ought to be more resistant than ever to such damaging policies.

Can I add my pennyworth. I am amazed to learn that dogs are being dosed monthly on a regular basis with Imidacloprid (for lungworm) This is a very potent neonicotinamide.Vets and drug companies are mounting campaigns to promote its use. Some residue will pass through the dog and be present in the faeces when the Purple Emperor comes along to take its fill of minerals. The effect will be devastating.
As a qualified vet for over 50 yrs I am quite used to warnings to keep other animals away from excreta of those dosed with antihelmintics.I find nothing publicised in the case of this product.
II would not give it to my dogs-it is not necessary,
So Purple Emperors beware and stay away.

Very glad you added your 'pennyworth', PJ. I had no idea such prescribed veterinary medicines contained such agents.
