Inside Out (BBC South)

Post by Pete Eeles »

From Lynn Fomison:

The new Inside Out series begins on September 17th Wednesdays BBC1 7.30pm. (NB BBC South Area only - outside this region you will need to watch it on BBCi).

There'll be a butterfly film every week for five weeks...starting with

1. Purple Emperor ( Matthew Oates at Straits & Goose Green)
2. Chalkhill Blues planned for the second week - that is filmed at Magdalen Hill Down with Andy Barker, Pat Fleet & Lynn Fomison chatting with Chris Packham
3. Then one on woodland butterflies filmed around Bentley Wood with Kate Dent.
4. Then Adonis Blue on Isle of Wight with Matthew (filmed on Friday 29th August).
5. Finally one on decline of Small Tortoiseshell...which Manuel Hinge is filming and producing himself.

Jenny Craddock of the BBC has worked on these butterfly items and has become very much a fan of butterflies as a result!

Cheers,

- Pete

Thanks Annie,

I just watched it too. Fan-blimmin-tastic! I've yet to see one in this country, perhaps next year.

It was, quite possibly, one of the best days of my life (well, close behind the day I met my wonderful other half!). I can still smell the whiff of belachan past floating on the air...

I've lost quite a bit of weight since that was filmed, it's like looking at the "old" me :)

there's also a little tie-in story featuring Matthew on the BBC Hampshire pages; http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/index.shtml

Does anyone know of a similar trick which will work with NTL cable services?

Annie, I enjoyed the Purple Emperor piece greatly! But its a case of the rest of us "Follow That"" Oh dear! Our MHD Chalkhill Blues were not half so well behaved & you will see from the clothes we were wearing it was a typical 2008 summer's day - blowing a gale after rain. However I do think Manuel managed to film the butterflies in some better weather a few days later.

I loved the Adonis Blue slot.
What a cracking little butterfly, well presented again by Matthew Oates.

Hi Dave,
I recorded Inside Out on BBC South. I expected it to be on Chalkhill Blue with Chris Packham featuring our very own Lynn, but it was the Adonis instead.
