Hi there. I don't get many butterflies at my North East terraced house, though have had many Painted Ladies and a few Large Whites of late. However I found a butterfly (don't think it's a moth) hiding in my fushcia hanging basket this morning with wings closed.
I'm probably being stupid but I've looked it up and can't pin it down to a particular species, even though it looks familiar. Can you help? Thanks. Jason

Hi Jason.
It's a Painted Lady at rest.
Kind regards. Mark

Thank you. Yes, it's obvious now. I was wrongly assuming they all had brighter underwings. First time I have managed to snap one in my garden (they rarely stay still for long), although we did get one running amok in the house too!
