Given the sheer number of amazing photos this month, I'm wondering if we should move from people voting for their "top 3" to their (say) "top 5". That should mean that the voting is more-representative and that all of the deserving shots get voted for.
Cheers,
- Pete
P.S. Not that I'm miffed about getting zero votes last month
Unfortunately not. We're currently using the forum's poll mechanism to give votes. I know that a better mechanism would be to vote for the top 3 (or whatever) and then apply a weighting based on whether a photo received 1st, 2nd or 3rd vote. Unfortunately, that would take some time to implement. It's on the list of things to do!
Say good night Ham
I know we all like to get votes, but they should be earned not given away, it is a competition after all. if there is no way of setting a poll for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, then it should be just one vote for your winner.
Three votes is fine by me as well, although last month I had a short list of five, one of which was yours, Pete, which unfortunately got dropped as I pared it down to three.
One thing that might be interesting is that our three votes could be applied to less than three candidates. In other words if there is a single outstanding entry we would be able to award two or even all three votes to that one.
