Is this what I think it is??

Post by chassyp »

Can anyone assist, I photographed this butterfly yesterday as the sun was leaving us. It was flying when disturbed by my walking down a grassy path. Its behaviour, size, colour, etc is all correct. I just wonder what others may think before I commit my thoughts on it!!

Mountain Ringlet! We climbed up Langdale Pike near Harrison Stickle to see them last week but there was not a sign! Mind you it was hot and sunny while we were walking up to the location but went cloudy and dull when we arrived so maybe that is the reason. We also went to Honister and walked up the hill behind the slate place but it rained there!!

Oh well - always next year and if anyone has any tips for where / when these critters can be found I would be very grateful.

Cheers
George
