Hi,
Just back from a fantastic holiday in Scotland - here are some pics. We saw Chequered Skippers aplenty at Gladrum Woods (but they were also to be found in other places!) Small PBF, Small Heath, Common Blue, Orange Tip, Scottish GV white etc. In fact we saw more butterflies in two weeks in SCotland than we have in the rest of the year in Derbyshire!! Well it certainly feels like it. Will have to be two posts as I cannot seem to attach more than three files at the moment

Re: Scotland in June
Hello George,
Pleased you saw Chequered Skipper at Glasdrum. We checked Loch Arkaig and Spean Bridge on the 21st
June in what seemed ideal conditions during the morning, but failed to loacate any CS. Neither did someone
else we meet who checked on 23rd June. It does seem they may have finished early (or yet to appear). I was
informed by a local that some are normally still on the wing until the end of June. We did see many Small Pearl
Bordered Frits and one very tatty looking Pearl Bordered.
For the first year in four we failed to see any Azure Hawkers at Allt Muhic. Their favorite spot among the pines
along the forest track at the top of the nature trail is now no more due to the felling of most of the trees.
Hopefully they will find another area nearby that has public access.

What's a Scottish Green Veined White?
I didn't think there was anything different about GVWs north of Old Hadrians.
