Marsh Award for the Promotion of Lepidoptera Conservation

Post by Neil Hulme »

Although I couldn't attend the BC national AGM yesterday, I was delighted to hear that a certain Mr Eeles was the very worthy recipient of the 'Marsh Award for the Promotion of Lepidoptera Conservation'. I feel that this is just recognition not only of Pete's immense individual efforts, but also those of the others who have contributed to the successes and undoubted value of the UK Butterflies website. Congratulations Pete!

Given that he won't countenance being given the UKB annual award for his contribution to this website, I'm delighted to see him being recognised by another group.

Many congratulations, Pete. I've a feeling it won't stop there either.

Thanks for posting this thread, Neil, and to everyone for their kind comments. The award came as a complete surprise and I'll write a summary of those I need to thank later this coming week (once I get some photos to make the summary more interesting!). The citation on the award is "Awarded to UK Butterflies, Peter Eeles" and feel that pretty much sums up how I feel about the award in that it is UKB first, me second :) This is an amazing community with amazing members, and I am extremely pleased to see that our contribution has been recognised!

Cheers,

- Pete

Great news, very well deserved Pete. I'm still waiting for my "UKB's most dashing member" award. Sadly I think it's been lost in the post! Either that or Neil Hulme's run off with it.

I've only just caught up with this - huge congratulations, Pete. If it hadn't been for UKB I would probably not have reinvigorated my childhood interest in butterflies - so many many thanks for this outstanding website. :D
