Third hand report of one in East Sussex, no doubt a release.

Is it feasible to establish a convention about captive bred releases of rare species? A small dab of cellulose paint, eg nail varnish, would tell all and sundry that it is a release. Of course, the absence of a paint mark wouldn't imply a natural occurrence but the convention of marking would certainly be helpful.

I believe that doing that would generate a plethora of false reports of aberrations to Butterfly Conservation.

I bred a dozen or so Orange Tips each year. I learn about their habits and the early stages. Are you suggesting that release of such a common species shouldn't be allowed?
