Butterfly in Costa Rica

Post by DavidD »

I will be grateful for any help identifying this butterfly. I saw it in February near Tarcoles in western Costa Rica.
Thanks for your help.

Hi David,

This looks like a local subspecies (it's quite pale) of the White Peacock, Anartia jatrophae.

Cheers,

Thank you both. It was so pale I could not convince myself it was a White Peacock. I have photos of others where the marking are much more convincing.
